Geotechnical engineering is the subsurface study related to the construction of a structure such as a building, highway, or bridge. Drilling and sampling form the basis for the overall geotechnical investigation and engineering report. Our in-house engineers evaluate specific site conditions related to soil stability and load-bearing capacity of materials at the proposed site. A geotechnical investigation is generally completed prior to, or as part of the preliminary and final design steps for a structure.
What is under your building can be as important as the building itself. Our in-house drilling and geotechnical engineers investigate subsurface conditions to characterize site conditions and generate design recommendations specific to your project site.

FIELDWORK
Drilling & Sampling
ACS Services has 3 drilling rigs ready and available to mobilize to your site. We work from the beginning by “Blue Staking” the site for any underground hazards and can be as accommodating as possible for time frame and site restriction circumstances.
Seismic Refraction Analysis
ACS Services can conduct seismic refraction surveys in support of our geotechnical investigations. The surveys help determine the approximate depth to bedrock and evaluate rock properties based on the seismic wave velocity of the subsurface material.
Soil Resistivity Analysis
ACS Services provides resistivity measurements using a Wenner Array in the field. This survey measures the ground’s capacity to pass an electrical current and is used for designing earthing systems for tower, substations, or structures requiring specialized grounding.
LABORATORY WORK
ACS Services has a fully accredited laboratory in Soil, Aggregates, Asphalt, and Concrete testing. Sampled obtained during geotechnical investigations are kept in-house to insure accuracy and fast turn around time for report writing needs.
REPORTING
ACS Services work with our client to ensure local requirements are met in preparing a soils report. Reports are processed quickly and efficiently to make sure timelines and budgets for projects are met accordingly.
